Ex-Treasurer of Youth Football League Accused of Embezzlement

51 year old Theresa A. Carlquist has been charged with two counts of embezzlement and six counts of felony grand theft for reportedly stealing $112,000 from the Downers Grove youth football league. Carlquist was, until the missing money was noticed, the treasurer of the football league.

Carlquist wrote checks to herself from the league's funds, some as large as $8,500. Over the course of almost two years, she stole as much as $112,000. She was the only person who handled the company's finances.

The organization is already strapped for money, and cannot afford to buy new jerseys for the new teams and do the equipment replacements that are necessary. Parents of children in the league are outraged.

Carlquist turned herself in and is set to go to trial on September 8th. She was released on a $5,000 bail.
