Federal Charges Against Blagojevich's Brother Dropped
Although Rod Blagojevich still faces retrial for the 23 counts against him, his brother is now off the hook. Robert Blagojevich was charged with two counts of extortion conspiracy, one count of extortion, and one count of wire fraud. Federal prosecutors are now dropping all charges because they believe that it is in the best interest of justice and that the two brothers had very disparate roles in the Senate seat controversy.
Rod Blagojevich was only found guilty of one count of lying to federal agents. The charges related to selling the Senate seat were, according to reports, only lacking one vote in the jury in order to find him guilty. Jurors were not able to find Robert Blagojevich guilty or not guilty of any of the four counts with which he was charged.
Robert Blagojevich lives in Nashville, TN and owns a real estate company. He claims that the legal fees from this last trial have almost made him lose his house.
