Police Account of Car Chase and Hit and Run Questioned

16 year old Kenyatta Brack was riding his bike on Sunday night when he was hit by a driver who then sped away. Brack was thrown into oncoming traffic and killed. The driver of the accident was being pursued by police for traffic violations. According to police accounts, police followed the car after it passed them at a "high rate of speed" and that they were following a few blocks behind, going no faster than 35 mph.

According to witnesses, however, the police were following close behind at around 70mph. Officials have stated that they were unaware that there were witnesses present.

Brack was struck by the car when it veered after being "boxed in" by another police vehicle. Brack's father is questioning the need for a high speed chase at all, given that as far as police knew, the driver of the vehicle had done nothing more than speed and elude police. High speed chases are notoriously dangerous, and this is not the first time an innocent bystander has been injured or killed because of one.

Police are have found the owner of the car and are investigating a person of interest.
