Grandmother Charged with Endangering the Life of Her Grandson
37 year old Yolanda Beck, the grandmother of a 1 year old toddler, was arrested and charged for endangering the life of a child. Endangering the life of a child is a misdemeanor offense, which means if convicted she could face up to a year in prison.
The child in question, her grandson, was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital after someone in the home noticed that he was lethargic and had previously been chewing on a piece of foil. Hospital tests determined that the boy had PCP and cocaine in his system.
Beck lives in East Garfield Park and has previously been arrested for drug charges and prostitution. Drug paraphernalia was found in her home. Beck is also being investigated for neglect by child services and may be charged with drug possession or possession of drug paraphernalia.
The child has been placed into the custody of a different relative who was not a member of his immediate family. He is reported to be in good condition now.
