Juvenile Robbery Suspect Caught by Bike Cops
Two Chicago police officers, Adrian Avarro and Erik Escalante, were patrolling a neighborhood on bicycles when they saw a middle aged woman yelling that her phone had been stolen. The 56 year old told the officers that a young man had approached her from behind, hit her arm, and grabbed her phone. He then ran off.
The cops chased after the suspect on their bikes and were able to catch up with him half a block later. The phone was found in the pocket of the suspect.
Police arrested the suspect and charged him with felony
robbery. As he is a minor, he will likely be charged as a juvenile, although more juveniles are being charged as adults in recent years. For the same reason, his name has not been released.
