Chicago Crime Agencies Crack Down on Drug Crimes

A massive drug crime crackdown took place last week in Chicago, Illinois, ending in the arrest of 51 individuals for a variety of crimes.

The effort took place last Friday by officers from the city of Chicago, the south suburbs as well as state police. With arrest warrants in hand, the officers spent hours going through 60 different neighborhoods in the city and the southern suburbs to locate known and wanted criminals. In addition to arresting 51 individuals, officers confiscated 160 grams of marijuana, six firearms and $6,000 in cash.

This is the largest raid of its kind in the city and suburbs and involved it officers from 65 agencies across the state. Uniformed officers were joined by undercover cops, as well as canine units, who went out on foot and by car to locate offenders. In addition, parolees' statuses were being checked and sex offender registries were searched for current and outdated registrations.
