House Arrest Ordered in DUI Case
Even though he was idling in a parking lot, officers arrested a 60-year-old man in Chicago, Illinois for DUI.
Several 911 calls were placed to a Chicago precinct about a man sitting in his vehicle. He appeared to be drunk and had a young child with him, prompting officers to investigate the calls. When police arrived, they discovered the man was intoxicated and had his four-year-old daughter sitting in the back seat of his vehicle. After confirming his intoxication, the man was arrested for drunk driving and child endangerment.
It has been reported that after the man's attorney spoke with prosecutors, he suggested that the man plead guilty to the charge of drunk driving. As a result, the second charge was dropped, which significantly reduced the man's sentence. Since his blood alcohol level was well above the state limit of 0.08%, the judge sentenced the man to thirty days of house arrest, which means he can only leave his residence for court appearances and work commitments.
