Suspected Killer of NIU Student Charged with Five Counts of 1st Degree Murder
Antinette "Toni" Keller went missing in October of 2010 after going to Prairie Park to work on an art project. She was a student at Northern Illinois University at the time. Two days later, burned remains were found in the park. Only a month ago were they confirmed as the remains of Keller, as DNA testing had to be used because the remains were in such bad condition.
34 year old William Curl has been charged with her murder; he is facing five counts of first degree murder. He was also charged with
arson, concealing a homicide and
sexual assault. He was charged with her death after police said that he did not arrive for a scheduled interview with them; he briefly left for Mexico, but then returned.
Police reports say that Curl told them about the murder and then also admitted that Keller's blood had stained some of his belongings, such as his shoes and clothing.
