Meth Lab Found in Basement of Des Plaines Home
Matthew A. Weber-Mixon, a 26 year old from Des Plaines, has been charged with drug possession as well as possession of materials for methamphetamine manufacturing and use of property for methamphetamine manufacturing. Weber-Mixon was under investigation by the police, which is how they found out about his illegal activity.
Though police arrived at around 7:30 p.m. to begin cleaning out the meth lab, they did not finish until most of the night was spent. The explosive and flammable nature of chemicals used in the production of methamphetamine means that hazmat and fire crews were necessary for the cleanup.
Many neighbors in the area were surprised at the discovery of a meth lab in their neighborhood. A few were less surprised, as it is a close-knit community and Weber-Mixon had stayed uninvolved.
