Customs Officers Seize Nearly 150 lbs of Marijuana
On Thursday, March 3rd, U.S. Customs and Border protection seized nearly 150 pounds of marijuana as well as arresting one man from Chicago in connection with the seizure.
Customs officials on the Pharr-Reynosa bridge stopped the 33-year-old driver at an inspection booth, where he was then sent to a secondary search station. CBP officers searched the vehicle and discovered multiple bundles of marijuana hidden within the gas tank of the 1999 Astro minivan.
The officers arrested the man and seized the drugs. He was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers where he will be prosecuted. He will likely face multiple drug charges for drug possession, drug possession with intent to sell, and other possible charges such as drug distribution and drug trafficking.
Charges involving large amounts of illegal drugs are extremely serious and can often result in felony charges, which have very harsh penalties for convictions. If you have been charged with a drug crime, seek immediate legal assistance from a skilled
