Online Video Leads Officers to Suspects Involved in Violent Beating
Chicago's head of police is trying to mitigate the press surrounding a very brutal and public beating that took place earlier this month. He claims that although the attack was undeniably brutal, it is not unique to the Chicago area. He went on to say that teenage violence is a national epidemic that has been seen in cities big and small across the nation. The most recent incident he is referring to involved the beating o f a 17-year-old high school student by seven teenagers. Not only was the victim horribly injured in the incident, but it was all captured on video and posted online.
The video, which showed three minutes of the attack, garnered national attention almost immediately. Since then, just one of the attackers has been charged as an adult. The rest have been categorized as juveniles. However, all of suspects have been charged with aggravated battery and robbery.
